Riley is an adventure in learning where students learn by doing and through questioning and self-discovery. Children express themselves and build self-esteem in small, mixed-age classrooms, thus developing the skills which guide them in being lifelong learners and creative, independent thinkers.

Maintaining a healthy and growing campus.

Our solar array and agricultural program are a reflection of a respect for our natural environment and provide interdisciplinary learning opportunities across all disciplines. As children make hands-on contributions to the care of our campus, they realize the potential of applying their learning to the benefit of the broader community.

Providing a catalyst for examining and improving educational practice.

Children and adults alike are both leaders and learners at Riley. Our teaching and learning pedagogy supports inquiry, goal setting, reflection, and self-advocacy and collaborate with other schools and organizations — both around the Midcoast and nationally — to provide and receive new thinking around Progressive education.
